2006-04-09Australia Melbourne, Australia 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P5P8Comment: Well, it was a race to forget for me. All the hard winter testings gave me a confident feeling, as my pace was fast and consistent. During yesterdays race, I was slower because I was very nervous all the time. I knew that if I do a mistake, the work of about 3 month is gone.

On qualifying, I took it easy and did 2 safe laps, that gave me a top-5 position. I was happy with it as I knew that we will be very good starters. After turn 1 I was 3rd already and right behind David and Roy. In the following laps I could not follow those guys. I lost to much time as I was going to safe just to finish the race easily. My pace was still enough for a top 3 position.

On lap 12 I did a small mistake. That way I lost 1 position to Patrick de Wit, who was also very fast. Just 5 laps later, Roy and Patrick were going into the pits and it was time for me to push and gain some time which was not possible, as I got a lapped car infront of me. I lost grip while being behind him and had a bad slide which was overheating my tyres. I should have driven more careful after that, as in the next 2 laps I spun because of overheated tyres and lost 20 seconds doing two 1m36sec laps.

My first pitstop was on lap 24 and I came back out as 4th with just a few seconds behind Patrick de Wit. The race continued quiet peacefully then. On lap 39, my race began to be a nightmare. I spun in the second chicane and my rear wing was off. Also my rear suspension had some severe damage. Because I didn’t want to loose to much time I pushed on my way back to the pits, which was a bad idea, as I spun another 3 times on my way to the crew. I did a lap of 3m14sec and was 9th. I lost 5 positions. On the pits, my crew did a mistake and didn’t fuel me up enough. That meant I had to come in once again.

From that on, the car was a nightmare to drive. On straights it was pulling hard to the left. In lap 53 I did my last pitstop, just a splash and dash. I just wanted to cruise this wrack home but the suspension problems got worse. That way, I came on the gravel by braking into the second chicane and spun off once more which cost me the front wing. As it happened in the end, I was driving over the line without a front wing.

All in all, a race to forget. I am really sorry for the team that I have shown such a bad performance. I mean, they believed in me and I got the world championship drivers contract. I did so much testing to satisfy my boss and tested like a maniac. I think we did more then 1600 laps on Melbourne. I don’t have to mention how frustrating such a result is.

2006-04-16Malaysia Sepang, Malaysia 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P5P5Comment: Well, the team early suffered from technical problems. We nearly missed the qualifying out but in last second we got the electricity working again. The qualifying itself was pretty good for us. I did a safe first rollout and was 1st. In my second stint I was allready 0.2 of a second faster in the first split but did a little mistake and ended up about 0.178 behind my first lap. My time from the first stint was enough for P5, just like Melbourne.

The race was full of action for me. A little bit to much of it if you’d ask me. I had a pretty good start and overtook David Greco and Ernesto de Angelis. Ernesto was pushing back and we had a slight contact. But I was still able to hold the car on track. But then, in turn 1, when I was side by side with my teammate Dominik Binz, I got a heavy hit from behind. David Greco turned me around by hitting my right rear. From that on, I had to work my way back to the front again as I was last after this incident. Also, my suspension was damaged. Just a bit, but I noticed it.

On lap 8 I overtook Denis Kiriakopoulos after a slight mistake after turn 2. Some laps later I was behind my sister teammate Richard Dodd. Luckily I could get by him 2 laps later and was back in 9th position. From lap 15 on, the 3 stoppers came to the pits and I managed to gained 3 position. Lap 20 was the lap where I had my first of two pitstops. I improved for 2 positions, as I had the time to push the car and also did my fastest laptime of 1.32.7.

From that one, I had a hard fight with Emanuel Gaczella. We were fighting nearly half of the race. After my second pitstop, I lost my position to him, which I got 5 laps before the stops. But after that, he seemed to lack speed and dropped back. I don’t know what happened, but it looked like he was loosing power.

The last 15 laps I was cruising it back home easily. I knew that Dennis Hirrle was unreachable for me, as he was about 19 seconds away. From behind there was also no danager as Twisters number 2, Patrick de Wit, who also hit my rear during the race, was about 14 seconds behind me.

That way, the race ended. I am pretty happy that the suspension problems didn’t get worse and my car came home in one piece. Of course I am really unhappy about the start and that my own teammate turned me around. But hey, there are 6 Kiwi guys out there, so there is a high possibility that we meet eachother on the start. Anyway, I hope he learned from it and might drive more careful from now on.

Also I’d like to thank the team management of Kiwi Virtual for the great support for it’s drivers. Not to forget our great sponsor Red Bull who makes all this racing possible here for us.

Now, 2 weeks break and back to europe. I hope we are having a good pace again. Maybe we will improve, as we got some new aerodynamic parts to test next week in Barcelona.4View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2006-04-30San Marino Imola, San Marino Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P11P6Comment: Well, for the moment I would just like to say that I am quiete happy with the result, starting from the midfield.

My qualifying was a disaster and I had to start from the midfield.

It is nearly impossible to overtake in Imola, but I still managed to pass 5 cars on track, which was really cool.

A more detailed report will follow.

On this note, I'd like to thank Red Bull for their support and hope to finish on the podium in 3 weeks.3View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2006-05-21Germany Nurburgring, Europe 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P4P4Comment: A really great feeling to stand on the podium after such a hard race. The race didn’t start well for us. The car of my teammate Dominik Binz had serious problems and the crew wasn’t able to solve this before the start. So he had to stay in the pits and an real early ending.
The qualifying was perfect for me. P4 in such a competitive field was just awesome. The start wasn’t really good for me. I overslept it completly and lost many positions entering turn 1. Thanks to my strategy I was still able to finish 3rd. My first podium. I am really proud of that.

I’d like to thank my team, my teammate and especially our sponsor Red Bull, who is supporting in a perfect way this season.5View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2006-06-04Monaco Monte Carlo, Monaco 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P18P4Comment: The practice sessions were very helpful. We were definatly on the pace for pole position. But technical problems made it impossible for us to post a lap time. It is frustrating to see, that each weekend, one of the Red Bull Kiwi Virtual cars do have problems. Most of the time the problems occured at my teammate Dominik, but now it happened to me. I don't have to tell you, how hard it is in Monaco to start from the last position.

On lap 4 or 5 I came wide in Saint Devote. I hit the barriers with my left rear wheel. From that moment on, the car was slightly pulling to the left. According to the lap times, it made us at least a half of a second slower than our real race pace.

Well, starting from last position and finishing 4th here in Monaco is ok for me. Also if you keep in mind our handling problems with the car. Of course I am a bit disappointed that it wasn't enough for a podium, especially when you finish just about 0.08 of a second behind that position. But Dennis deserved it. There was no real chance for me to overtake him, except 2-3 situations. But this situations would have been to riscy and I didn't want to loose that 4th place. Anyway, now, Monaco is over and we have to focus on the next track.

2006-06-18Great Britain Silverstone, Great Britain 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P5P3Comment: First of all, I am very surprised to be on the podium here at Silverstone. Really, I didn't know that I was running in 3rd. The whole time I was really concentrated as I got pressure from behind. Then, I was racing against the Diamond Racing Team car infront of me. Well, when I crossed the finish line, I was a little bit disappointed about the 4th position, as I knew I could have done better. But then, everyone of the team gratulate me and I was like "What the hell?????!!!!". Of course it is a really great feeling to be here on the podium again after my home Grand Prix in Nürburgring. Thanks a lot to my team and my sponsors.6View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2006-07-16Canada Montreal, Canada 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P11P12Comment: Well, bad race for me. The pace after the long party the night before wasn't fast anyway. I was hoping for a 6th place finish and it was looking good until lap 55. Then the rear brakes failed. Very early. I was racing with brake duct 3. Then I tried to hold the car on track, but it was impossible.

When Roy was lapping me then, I went straight into turn 1. If I wouldn't have pressed ESC, I would have fully collected Roy. I think it scared him a bit. :-)

Anyway, the CHATTING! of 2 drivers at the beginning of the race MUST face a disqualifcation. This was more then unfair!!! I nearly crashed because I allways thought admin was writing something. I think it was De Wit and my teammate :(.

De Wit was making me mad aswell this time. First he chats and begs for a restart, and then he simply crashes into my rear for passing me. He crashed so hard into it, that I had damage and possible this damage screwed up my wheel/brakes. I hope that admin will review it.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2006-08-06United States Indianapolis, United States 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P9P17Comment: Well, about 700 laps of practice down the train in about 15 seconds. Same like Roy. Got hit from behind. I was so much scared because of that heavy "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM". Well, complete rear of my car was screwed up then. Couldn't do anything after that.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2006-08-13France Magny Cours, France 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P7P6Comment: Not much to say about my race. It was horrible. The pace was very promising, but I did the worst race of my online racing career. At the start, I nearly went wide and lost control. But fortunatly, 2 cars in front of me had the same problems and I gained 1 position, as Nils overtook in the first corner. In about lap 10 I spun the car after the hairpin. I don't know exactly what happened, but I drove the corner like every time. I never spun there. But this time, I had no chance to hold the car on track. It cost me about 15 seconds. Then, at my first pit stop, the crew wasn't ready and I could not pit. I had to drive through the pitlane and pit next lap, which was very dangerous, as I hadn't really enough fuel. Had to safe it the way back to pits. That cost me another 10 seconds. From then on, I had a booring race. No real fights against drivers, but against the time. In my last stint, I changed tyres from "super soft" to "soft" and it was really good. The car was more consistent and faster. With super soft tyres, the rear tyres were overheating. Well, I could really push a lot in the end. Did my 12.7 which was the 3rd or 4th fastest time in the race just because 0.2 behind the fastest one.
Unfortunatly, in the first right-left-chicane with 2 laps to go, I came to far into the gravel and the car jumped from the cerb right into the wall. I lost my rear wing and the rear suspension was heavily damaged. I drove slowly into the pits and tried to repair it. Well, I was very lucky to still finish 6th. Would have been a 4th position. Without that mistakes and bugs that happened in my race, a podium finish would have been very realistic.

Anyway, since 2 DNFs I am happy to reach the finish. Could have been better, but also a lot worse.3View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2006-08-20Germany Hockenheim, Germany 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P3P4Comment: Well, good race for me. I tried an aggressive 3-stop strategy but it didn't pay out as it should have. I was hoping for a podium finish and maybe to have a chance for my first FSR win.

4th is still a good position. I can live with that. Looking forward to Hungary now.

Also a big thanks to our sponsors Red Bull and Natural Point!

2006-09-03Hungary Hungaroring, Hungary 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P17P4Comment: Well, before the race I thought it will be hard to finish in the top-8 as my race pace wasn't very good. Also, I had to start from P17 due to my grid penalty from Hockenheim. I had a great start and was already in 10th after lap 1. With an agressive 3-stop strategy I was able to finish 4th in the end. Nearly a podium, but anyhow it seems the 4th position is MY position. I guess this is the 5th race I finish on that position.

Well, another 5 points. Still have to learn a lot in my debut season here.

I want to thank our sponsors Red Bull, NaturalPoint, Coca Cola and F1 Racing Magazine for the great support. Without these guys we wouldn't be here.5View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2006-09-17Turkey Istanbul, Turkey 2006 Red Bull Kiwi...WC2006P12P16Comment: Well, this race weekend in Istanbul was one of these to forget. We did not have enough time to prepare for the race. Also, we still failed to show our true performance in qualifying. We really have a problem with this qualification format this year. Hopefully we can change that for next year. Anyway, I’ve started from 12th after a grid penalty of 3 positions. I was able to gain a lot of places on the start and through the next few corners. Then I was behind my teammate Dominik and was able to overtake him. We had great fights in my opinion. Hard but always fair. I really enjoyed it. After my first of two pitstops, I was in 6th, just about 9 seconds behind sister teammate Zaahir. With the changes I made on the setup, I was able to gain a little bit of time and my times were faster compared to the first stint. Unfortunately, I made a driving error just after turn 1 in lap 27. I had wheelspin and had to hit the brakes hard. The tyres were locked. Due to the high speed and the slippy asphalt besides the track, I hit the barriers. Not only my front wing was gone, but also my right front suspension had severe damage. As I lost a complete lap on the way back to the pits, knowing my car will handle crap and it’s a risc for other drivers, I decided to park the car in the box and retire from that race. Third DNF this season for me. The first one that was caused by myself. In Canada, my brakes failed and in Indianapolis I got hit hard from behind in lap 1 / turn 1. Now, I hope to be up on pace again for Monza. Will do everything to secure the team a podium finish.

Also, I’d like to thank our sponsors Red Bull, NaturalPoint, Coca Cola and F1 Racing Magazine for their great support.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2007-03-25Malaysia Sepang, Malaysia 2007 Silva Snake RexWC2007P10P16Comment: Well, bad first race for me. Qualifying was still okay with me. But we definatly lack speed. On the race, well, it was already over for me in lap 1 / turn 1. I didn't exactly see what happened, but after I got wrecked, both right side tyres were damaged and I had a puncture.

I hope to be faster for Bahrain.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2007-04-22Australia Melbourne, Australia 2007 Silva Snake RexWC2007P17P9Comment: Thanks to my team for giving me a setup that was not gonna work. Dominik and me had not much time for testing and trusted in the setup the team provided us for race. We even raised the brake duct and lowered the pressure. But the result is, that every Silva car was having no brakes at about lap 50. We were in 4-5-6 and now we got again 0 points.

Thanks a lot! :(0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2007-05-06Spain Catalunya, Spain 2007 Twister RacingWC2007P7P6Comment: Well, all in all, not a good race for me. A lot of fighting in the first stint made it impossible to lap consistent times and I lost time. I got hit from behind by a Virtual-Games.com Racing car and from that on, the car was strange to drive. I was so insecure while accelrating and really had a hard time to control the car. Well, despite having those problems, this were my first 3 points of the season. Of course this is not enough for a team like Twister-Racing. I will give my very best for Monaco next week. I have to improve and I will. P6 is not what I am looking for.

Anyway, I wish to thank Roy for being a great team mate. Also all our other World Series drivers and every team member of Twister Racing for the warm and friendly welcome. Thank you Joel for giving me the chance and for being a great team manager during the race.3View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2007-05-13Monaco Monte Carlo, Monaco 2007 Twister RacingWC2007P20P20Comment: Well, we knew that this will be a hard race for us. We had to deal with the +13 grid penalty from Spain which made us start from the very last position at the Monaco Grand Prix. A Grand Prix, where overtaking is very difficult and nearly impossible. Still, with hard fighting and a switched strategy (drove 33 laps on softs), I was able to score at least a few points for my team.

Unfortunatly I was involved into an incident with Denis which resulted in a stalled engine of Roys car as he was coming with full speed from behind. Roy was already going to lap us due to the slow laptimes in the back of the field and couldn't see the car on Denis in Rascasse. He braked hard and stalled the engine while being leader.

This could have been 13 points for the team but now we have to life with only 3 points. Anyway, we will learn from those mistakes and look forward to Montreal. A new weekend, new chances, new hopes. I am sure we will do good.

Of course I'd like to thank the whole Twister-Racing crew for their support and especially our sponsors Natural Point and HiMa. Looking forward to Montreal, Canada.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2007-07-01France Magny Cours, France 2007 Twister RacingWC2007P11P8Comment: All in all, my pace wasn't as bad as I expected before the race. I was on the same level of Kuncman, who is my target to beat on track, as Roy has to beat Marques ;-).

Anyway, the race wasn't good for us with Roys disconnection right before the start of the race. I was racing in 6th until just a few laps ago, when one of this overmotivated rookies, in this case Rouault, tried to use my car as brake.

Well, at least I was able to score one point. Fortunately, the Rouault scored no points which should give him a lesson on how to drive properly in this grid.1View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2008-03-30Australia Melbourne, Australia 2008 Twister-Racin...ACE2008P23P10Comment: Very bad weekend for me. I was hoping for Q2 pole which would have been not a problem if I wouldn't have messed up my last sector in the 3rd qualifying stint. But since it didn't work out, I just managed P4 which was not satisfiying.

On the start I could win a position, still, on a fight with Martinez, I got hit into the rear of my car. The rear wings had damage and needed repairs at the first pitstop. That's why it took 16 seconds to get out again. But since these repairs, the car still felt very strange. I had a very insecure feeling while driving the car resulting in driving 1.5-2.0 seconds slower a lap. I needed some time to get used to it and to be on "half-normal" pace again, lapping 25s low.

All in all, P5 was nothing more than "bring the baby home in one piece". The rear wing thing has cost me a way better result.

Anyway, season is long!5View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
