Twister-Racing one step closer to victory
Team shows promising speed despite valuable point loss
League: World Championship Team: Twister Racing Category: Press-release
The crew of Twister-Racing showed winning "Twister Logo" pace this week-end with Dennis Hirrle challenging at the top of World Championships' sixth round and Ferry Koek missing his third win in a row in World Series' Ace category. Starting from the front row, which is also his best qualifying performance this season, the 2005 World Champion was on par with race winner Kolbe's race trim before being stopped with ten laps to go by an engine failure. Patrick De Wit made a start and home in fourth, scoring 5 points. Team boss Roux is encouraged by his team's progress.
Patrick De Wit (4th): « I didn't really look forward to this race because, I struggled with my practice on this track. But in the last weekend of testing I improved my setup a lot. So I qualifyed 4th which was not bad. I had a reasonable start and could hang on to 4th. Due to my strategy, I was faster than my teammate and I passed him. I was driving behind Marques but could only only follow him. Unfortunaly I spun twice; first at Club and then at Bridge, going into the gravel with an impact. I was lucky that the car remained undamaged. There was one good moment passing Schmalenbach on the outside of Stowe. I pushed the race all the way after my last pitstop and came ahead of Greco. In the end, I'm very happy with my 4th place after those incidents. The car was good and I could set good laptimes. »
Dennis Hirrle (DNF): « If you are on the same pace of the leader or even faster, lying in second position, of course you are disappointed if your engine blows short before the end. But I’m too long around as to get furious about that. We had the same engine settings as always, and they're supposed to be safe, so I don’t really know what happened. Today we absolutely had the pace, just in the beginning I lost the missing 3 seconds after Kolbe’s last pitstop because I didn’t have the best start, lost position to Bruno and had to let my teammate through due to different strategies. To be honest I find it remarkable as a team what we are doing this season. Patrick and my fastest laps were both quicker than Roy’s, at least until I was out. So despite this frustrating result I believe we are in great shape and I’m sure we will have some fun in the rest of the season. »
Joël Roux (Team Manager): « Of course it's disappointing for Dennis, because we were in a strong position here at Silverstone. I have to thank him for his efforts over the last two weeks regarding the team work. We cannot afford to loose points by reliability issues and we will make sure this doesn't happen anymore. As for Patrick, he did a good race, but lost some crucial time spinning twice. I think he is aware that he lost the last podium step there. Unfortunately the same happened to Ferry. He could have won the race in WS Ace, but in the end it's good to secure the points of second position. Generally, it has been a very good week-end and we have again made progress. The victory is not very far away... »
