Category: Interview
The second part of our interview series "Media image" covers Pedro Melim, who after a successful debut year in FSR came to seek new aspiration in Precision Motorsports.
Q: Hello and welcome. To begin with, you are a relatively new figure in sim racing and FSR. How did you get into this sport and how would you describe your first full year of racing in AMA.
Hi and thank you, I’m glad to be here. I got into sim racing in a way that wasn’t planed at all. I bought a wheel doing what a friend of mine did, but wasn’t expecting something to pop out so good. In the beginning I didn’t race much, but after the first year I tried to get into a league and get it a bit more serious, and that’s when I began racing in a small league. I wasn’t racing there much because they had to shut down due to the not having the time to organize it anymore. That’s when I went to FSR to look for a team to start the season. I knew about FSR but didn’t know that was so big in terms of experience and drivers. After that I joined winter series when I caught the attention of TMo and they offered me a seat in their team. The season I have to say went very well, in the beginning I wasn’t expecting much from myself but after a few rounds I knew I had a shot on the title, so I kept pushing until the last race where I had the a disconnection, but well, life isn’t made only by luck, so I hope next time it will be better.
Q: After the season you switched teams from Torrent to Precision. Do you feel this was the right choice and how has the change of atmosphere felt so far?
Yes, it was the right decision, although I left a few friends in Torrent I had to go to a team with the best drivers, so that I could learn from the best and, in future, be one of them. The atmosphere is still great, everybody is open to share his knowledge with me and help me in what I need, especially our team manager Ondrej Kuncman.
Q: Moving on to 2010, you will race in the new World Trophy category. What do you expect from this "new" league in terms of racing and where do you see your own level and goals?
