Twister-Racing’s best result
Two wins in WS and podium in WC
Team: Twister Racing Category: Press-release
It was a displaying week-end for Twister-Racing "Twister Logo" at Magny-Cours. The team enjoyed two victories in the opening World Series. Nazario Nuti won in WS-Pro, after having lead in dominant fashion. His teammate Chris Thornburg though faced a bitter disappointment, after his car got stuck in the pits with terminal electric problems. Following this success, Ferry Koek commanded his sole TR006 to another win in WS-Ace, the fourth of the season. The Dutchman is leading the standings and aiming for a title success.
Nominated by the team again to partner Dennis Hirrle in World Championship, Ferry Koek showed a convincing performance, scoring 4 points for Twister-Racing. The 2005 World Champion driver did a steady week-end, starting and finishing in third position. The german squad was able to make up seven points on Kiwi Virtual’s Red Bull team and reduced his gap over leading Coca-Colas by 10 points. The direct following opponent has now become Bruno Marques’ Diamond Racing Team.
Dennis Hirrle (3rd) :
« Third place is a satisfying result considering that this is a track I totally dislike. I was really annoyed to loose exactly 4 tenths in the last chicane every lap over my opponents. I couldn’t do anything more about it without risking to spin. The car just didn’t behave very well. At the start, Zaahir was better and got me into T1. I had Binz behind me for the entire first stint, but dirty air kept him far enough behind in the first sector so he couldn’t overtake. He fell back after our first pitstops, but then came back. I did all I could to keep him behind me. We had some good moments in the hairpin. With Ferry finishing fifth, we scored a lot of points. But, Bruno is in another world and we will have to fight to keep Diamond behind us in the constructor’s championship. The tracks to come should be better again though. »
Ferry Koek (5th) :
« My qualifying was not really bad, if you consider who was in front of me. All in all, I was very pleased with P10. I won two positions after the first turns and was happy with my pace. I did a 20-18-16-16 strategy and I think it was good. I fought the whole race with Martin Dyrlund. It was nice and fair and we were very close the whole race. I have to congratulate Dennis with another podium finish and on the last place I also thank the whole team fore their help and support in making a good and decent set-up. »
Nazario Nuti (1st – WS-Pro)
« Great to have finally won ! It should have gone like this in Montreal on my debut, nevertheless I did it. I would like to thank in primis Joel for recruiting me and giving me the possibility to race with such a wonderfully organized team. The Test Team in particular is perfect, they provide me with the best setups and the best information and advice possible. Joakim does an incredible amount of work for everyone, I am really impressed. Twister is an example of how a team should be organized. I’m looking foward to the next race I can compete in. »
Joël Roux (Team Manager) :
« I’m very happy of this successful week-end. Every driver can be proud of the work done, because it has contributed to everybody in the team, at every level or category. I’m proud of both our wins in World Series and wish we could do even better. Both championships seem to be still a realistic target for Twister-Racing. The World Championship race was a hard one, but we can be satisfied as it’s our 3rd best season result. We look forward to use the momentum and be competitive in the next races. »
