Positive debut for Theo
Faster Than Speed WC French GP Report
League: World Championship Category: Press-release
Unfortunatelly, the FSR World Championship "FTS logo" race at Magny Cours, France, gave no championship points to Faster Than Speed.
Dutch WS driver Theo Gort, drove his maiden World Championship race. After a very promising performance in the difficult Qualifying session, Theo started from 13th on the grid. Theo progressed well in the race, until his car sustained damage from avoiding a car who had spun in front of him. Despite this, he could continue although he later retired when the engine stalled after a spin. Without doubt, a positive first experience for the young FTS driver.
Dennis Johansen, meanwhile, had another weekend to forget. After missing Qualifying, Dennis went off the track and crashed his FTS-P6 against the barriers in the first laps.
Theo Gort (DNF): "My qualifying was better then this afternoon (in WS Ace). 13.4 this time. In the race it was going nice, but trying to avoid someone with no rear wing I bumped the wall a bit, my own fault though. 10 laps later, unrelated to my damage, I spun and stalled. I still pressed the clutch but I was too late, so a bit dissapointing, but I still enjoyed seeing the rest of the race."
After two races without points, FTS will be looking forward to getting back into the Top 8 in Hockenheim, where Gabriel Garivaldis took a podium finish for the team in 2003, under the Flying Colours International name.
