Podium for Faisal and strong finishes for Colin, Christian and Theo
Faster Than Speed WS German GP Report
League: ACE Team: Faster Than Speed Ace Category: Press-release
Faster Than Speed left Germany with succesful "FTS logo" results in the FSR World Series German GP.
In WS Pro, Faisal Niazi and Colin Penney were 2nd and 4th in Q1, but unfortunately, Colin ran into problems and failed to set a time in Q2, leaving him 8th on the grid. Faisal, meanwhile, had also a strong Qualifying 2, clocking the 3rd fastest time, to start from the second row of the grid.
In the race, Faisal did a fantastic job to take another podium in 2nd place. Colin, meanwhile, had a slightly more difficult race, but could still finish in 4th position. Faisal and Colin were the strongest team of the race, scoring 36 points between them.
This result, moved Faisal to 3rd in the Drivers Championship, the same position that the team occupies in the Teams Standings.
In WS Ace, Christian Smirnoff and Theo Gort were 6th and 8th in Qualifying 1, later clocking the 6th and 7th quickest times in Qualifying 2, to start from the third and fourth rows respectively. Swaraj Shergill, couldn't make the Q1 cut, and started from 10th.
In the race, Swaraj unfortunatelly suffered an early exit during lap 2, after having a very promising pace in the testing sessions. Christian and Theo had good and clean races, to finish in 5th and 6th positions respectively, scoring 24 points, more than any other of the championship contenders.
Christian Smirnoff (5th): "In the Qualifying sessions I could have been a position better in each, but P6 was ok. The race was pretty clean this time, finally. Pushed as hard as I could and didn't make any mistakes. My pace was not bad, clocked some good laptimes, but it was not enough for more than 5th. My biggest problem was that I suffered from severe front left tyre overheating, going over 145°C sometimes, which gave me understeer in the high-speed corners, but the setup was still quite good to drive. Hopefully the new physics will help rather than hurt. Looking forward to see where we are with them." With this result, the team enlargened the gap to Roaldo Racing in the lead of the Constructors Championship. Christian Smirnoff maitains his 2nd position in the Drivers Standings.
FTS is now looking forward to the Hungarian GP, were the drivers will have to get to grips with the new OWC06 BMW physics, hopefully with good results.
