Comment: I was able to get a great jump off the line at the start. Looking in my mirrors as I dropped into turn 1, I was very suprised to see I had quite a gap to the group of cars fighting behind me. I ran a conservative pace to try to keep from making a mistake on this very unforgiving circuit. You can't use the curbs and you can't put a wheel off the road or you just get pulled into the walls. After I saw Gabriel, who was in second place, go off behind me around lap 12, I put the car in cruise control.

I pitted around lap 27 or 28, taking new tires and fuel. We were able to get the car out in front of Carlos in second place, but just barely. With Carlos only a few seconds behind me and closing quick, I was struggling to get the tires warm and keep the gap. Carlos was on a two stop pit strategy, or at least I was hoping he was. I knew he pitted early, but I didn't know if he took enough fuel to make it to the finish. I knew I had to push hard, but it was inevitable. Carlos, with hot tires and light fuel, quickly caught me and passed me into turn one. A few laps later, I saw Carlos duck off to the left and enter the pits. At last it was true, he had to pit again. All I had to do was drive the car to the finish, and I had the tires and fuel to do it.

The tires came to temperature and once again the car was on a rail. All I had to do was steer it seemed. The car just drove itself. The worst corner on the circuit to me was the last tight left hander. I had a hard time getting the car slowed and settled to get a clean exit. Fast forward to lap 38 or so, and I have a brief loss of concentration. I keep the throttle down for too long and can't get the car slowed in time to enter the corner. I knew as soon as I started to brake what was going to happen. The back end comes around and I'm sitting turned 90 degrees on the track facing the pitwall. After reversing back and forth a few times I get pointed the right direction and on my way.

The damage had been done, Carlos was in my mirrors and I knew he didn't have to pit anymore. Time to push, and I did. The last 12 laps or so were quick for both Carlos and I. We kept trading fast lap times every time we crossed the start finish line. I had a large enough gap to focus on the track ahead of me. Even with the gap, I entered turn one on lap 41 and my right rear tire caught the edge of the tarmac as I was hard on the brakes. The car wiggled twice and finally snapped around. I was now facing Carlos as he dived in turn one below me.

I rejoined the circuit a few seconds behind him, and he maintained the gap all the way to the finish. I ended up leading 37 of 50 laps, but not the most important one. Congrats to Carlos on his win! He drove hard and never made a mistake when it counted. I'll take second place for my third FSR start, and I look forward to Varano.

Comment: My first race with FSR, I got very scared.
My main objective was to finish the race and managed to accomplish it so I am very happy with the result, even with the various mistakes I made and my poor times due to my nervousnes. I had problems with traffic and my own mistakes during qualify, I couldn't do a clean lap.
I am looking for a team for the World Series Ace 2008 championship, I hope this race helps to get more near to that objective.
Thanks for giving me the oportunity to race with you, it was a fun race. Congratulations to the podium finishers!

Comment: Made a mess of qualifying and got off the line slow for the race, made a few mistakes and nearly ended my race on lap 21 when a car in front of me spun, I tried to avoid him by moving off the track but went the wrong way and we hit, I had to pit to repair but I think he came off worst as he stopped a lap later, sorry.
Managed to get to the end and finish 6th but last. Hope I manage better next week.
