2009-04-05Australia Melbourne, Australia Denis KiriakopoulosACE2009P14P6Comment: Quals:
As everyone should expect for himself, I was not as fast in quals than in practice. I was a bit frustrated, since a top10 was possible...and it would have been first time (ever). I'm at the back, but very close to the people in front of me.

Race start:
At every start, I'm very cautious. I proved after some years of racing that my strength is finishing races at a reasonable speed, which brings good results.
In first laps I put pressure on the guys in front, and took advantage of my experience. They made small mistakes that let me through.
Then I was in a 3-way battle with Libeert behind, and Montanes in front. Despite many little mistakes of Montanes, I couldn't pass. I had to wait some laps to study his driving, and finally I passed in the chicane of S2. Libeert also took advantage of the pass and followed me.

From that point started a battle that lasted until the final laps with Libeert, with some extremely close action. Side by side in S1, many attacks, close pit exit, etc. Finally, he made a mistake and let me breathe for the final laps.

Very exciting race, and very good result !

2009-04-05Australia Melbourne, Australia John-Eric SaxenWC2009P6P4Comment: At the end I'm rather happy with the result. I knew qual was very important and just managed to make the needed lap times for q3. The race start was difficult as firstly I had contact with a GS car and later on lost momentum totally by going wide on the worst possible place. At that point I was p14 and 15 seconds behind already, but thanks to some weird incidents and a few overtakes on track and another few in the pits I made it to P5 and eventually P4. Also I think this is TMo's best WC result ever so congrats to the team for that, looking forward to Sepang.5View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2009-04-12Malaysia Sepang, Malaysia Denis KiriakopoulosACE2009P22P24Comment: Drama in Malaysia...After 2 turns, my front wing is taken off by an incident in front that I couldn't avoid.
A few turns later, as I was driving to the pits, my car has been destroyed by a rear hit (Keersmaekers). I thought everyone had past me, but I was wrong. I didn't pay so much attention to my driving line 2 turns before pit entry, because I was changing strategy.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2009-04-19China Shanghai, China Denis KiriakopoulosACE2009P20P14Comment: Finishing a race and bringing 0 points is always a big disappointment. After the DNF in Sepang, it's another race to forget.
After analysis of the data, the best position i could score is P11. My pace was 0.33s slower than Australia (in comparison with the winner), which can be explained by the lack of practice. At this level, a little difference can have huge effects.

A bent suspension due to a slight contact around lap 33 caused me a spin 1 lap after, and some bad laps which probably costed me a point in the standings.

Congrats to my friend Bengtsson for the win, and Bolier for a stunning 3rd position.1View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2009-05-03Bahrain Sakhir, Bahrain Denis KiriakopoulosACE2009P23P10Comment: Practice: Kaasa gave me a good base setup for this race, I felt immediately comfortable with it. I changed it a bit according to my driving, and I was ready for the race.
70 timed q-laps, 100 race laps.

Quals: very close, like usual. I manage to make p16 (usual position) at the last lap. I'm pretty happy but I could have done a bit better.

Race: the first laps just in the middle of everyone is always difficult. I pay as much attention as I can to avoid contacts, and of course I'm overtaken. But also, I see cars off track at every turn. I keep in mind that the race is 57 laps and I don't insist too much on risky moves.
After the first laps, I'm caught in the middle of a fight for P10. With Barbosa, Yakimenko and Meglic begins a real fight. We all had the same pace so it was very exciting.

At the end, Barbosa takes a little gap, as I have to fight to keep P10. Meglic DNF and Yakimenko is closing. 2 laps from the end, front left brake faded. I think it's due to my bent suspension. I lose 20 seconds.
Yakimenko passes and hopefully Bengtsson took a lap to almost everyone. Only Richards remaining but he seems to have lost his brakes too! I visit a bit of sand but finish 10th.

Very exciting race with many battles through all the distance!

2009-05-17Spain Catalunya, Spain Denis KiriakopoulosACE2009P22P11Comment: Practice:
a lot of mess with the track, different versions and different versions of tyres in the first week. The second week I had no free time for F1, so I started practice only...sunday morning.
4 hours practice, and race already! That was far from enough.

Quals: .5 away from PB, pretty much usual with pressure. P14 with the penalties.

Race: I don't remember how many red flags there where, and from what I heard there were in all categories. So...what's the problem?
In all starts mine went fine, except the "real" one. My tyres were completely cold and I had to go off track in T1 to avoid hitting anyone. I avoided the walls with a miraculous driving.

From that moment till 5 laps from the end, the race was boring. I was at the back, with a car that was difficult to handle. My laptimes were horrible. At the end I almost overtake Izquierdo, and Michaels is trying also to pass me.

Result: P11 at the end, pretty much "usual" result despite having very low practice. It won't be sorted for Monaco since I go in Greece till...saturday evening before the race! It's a shame, but many things go first.4View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2009-05-31Monaco Monte Carlo, Monaco Denis KiriakopoulosACE2009P20P7Comment: Practice: after a week in Kos (Greece), I could start practicing only 4h before quals. Loaded Timon's setup and did a few laps during a couple of hours. More, in a row, is too much.

Quals: as usual, in fact, I start the race P18. I'm expecting huge mess in the first laps, I just hope I'll be able to avoid them...

Race:
huge mess pretty much everywhere, mostly caused by Melgic that forgot to brake but got away with no damage. I'm lucky, got passed them with a few hits here and there on my car. I'm in a good p13 and very heavy on fuel (35laps). Even P11 at the end of lap 1!
That's where Malezic lost a wing, didn't see it, and unfortunately ran into me. Car destroyed but still able to go repair the car. 3m09 to make lap2...

Yakimenko was behind me during many laps, which made it interesing. Thanks Andrey! I was running mid16's due to my damaged car and heavy fuel.

After first pitstop I was still in front of Yakimenko, and I tried to push a bit more. I was into 15's, and he finally made some mistakes and retired. With all other retirements I was in top10 !

I finally made also a mistake after 3rd pitstop, watching blue flags and cold tyres....Could rejoin pitstops for repair, I did nearly 4 minutes for this lap.

With nobody behind, I put boost on lower setting (9) and was just driving home. Some other retirements made me finally do p7.

At the end I finish with 6 laps to the leader. Yes, I was slower than most guys. Yes, I did a mistake. But I had the most determination to go till the finish line, and that's a quality that shouldn't be minimized.

Congrats to the top3. Very good driving.9View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2009-06-14Turkey Istanbul, Turkey Denis KiriakopoulosACE2009P13P12Comment: Practice : more than usual, but not very happy with improvements done after 100 laps. I've been practicing with race fuel.

Quals: honnest laptime, and with penalties of others, I'm well placed

Race:
- start: bad start. I'm very cautious and cars overtake me from everywhere. I lose positions that I gain again with some cars that go off track

- we make a nice 3 way battle with Montanes and Kaasa. I pass both but Kaasa sticks behind me. I receive the order to let him pass, but then I overtake him again as he was slower than expected. from that moment, except that mistake in pit entry that cost me 15 secs, nothing special to report.

At the end I'm p12, with no chance to catch the guy in front, or lose position. I save engine and cross the line with 1 lap off the leader.3View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2009-07-19Germany Nurburgring, Germany Denis KiriakopoulosACE2009P13P12Comment: The start is brilliant, and I'm able to overtake many cars in first corner. I'm up to 11th, but Tomo [Melgic] went too fast for turn 2 and hit me. Fortunately the car wasn't damaged, but I lost all the gained positions.
For the two first laps, there are several incidents and I'm able to pass several damaged cars: Melgic, Wezenberg, Izquierdo, Tihekari. I also pass Richards. At this point, I'm already 14th, and several drivers are just 5 seconds ahead.
I push as hard as I can, but I can't go faster without mistakes.
In lap 5, there are again damaged cars I can easily pass: first Palmer, and Bengtsson who has to pit. In the meantime, Gosling has retired. I'm 11th now. 10th when Tramosljika also retires.
On lap 12, Stroud makes a strange move to avoid being passed, but it ends in the gravel. DNF for Stroud and pit for Kanitz. I have moved to 8th position!
Lap 15, I've catched Barbosa, but I have to enter the pits. The portuguese driver is on a 2-stopper. When I rejoin the track, I'm still 8th, behind Yakimenko. He makes a couple of mistakes in last chicane but manages to be fast enough so I cannot catch him.
Lap21, Bengtsson has recovered from the damage of lap5 and catched me. He's much faster, he puts a lot of pressure, but cannot pass. He finally pits at the end of lap25.
Lap30, Kanitz also catched me, but I have to pit.One lap later, Kanitz also pits, but gets out just in front. Very nice played from him. But the, after trying to pass Barbosa, he brakes too late and both cars lose grip. I'm just here, and I pass in the middle of them. I'm 7th, but I have Kanitz sticked to my back. Finally, in lap40, he passes me in the last chicane.
After that, there is the drama: Bentsson (who made his pitstop) is puttin again pressure on me. My rear tyres are worn, and my concentration goes on the next pitstop. That's too much, and I finally made a mistake. Car spins, and I hit the wall. I bring the car to the pits for a repair, but the fight for a good position is over.
In the final laps, Izquierdo also overtakes, but the deception is already big. I finally finish 12th, but 8th or 9th was in the play.

Qualifications - P16
I've done far from enough practice to score a fast lap. Moreover, I've focused my driving for the race. At the end I'm 16th, but I have a good strategy for the start.

2010-03-07Bahrain Sakhir, Bahrain 2011 Blair DisleyWC2010P16P10Comment: Had some problems which I believe affected my race. I had to use a smaller screen, and it was also sitting further away from me, along with my wheel being alot closer to me. No force feed back here, but still felt different with my arms. Add to that, Qualifying was my first attempt at Qualifying lap.

Everything combined there, certainly slower than what I could have been.

In the race, fell to 21st on lap 1! Then had some battles, was able to pass some other drivers. I did get damage somewhere around lap 5, which perhaps affected the handling also.

Ended the race with a fast lap, which was somewhere aound 5th quickest of all. Also the drivers that dropped out of the race helped me improve my place to 10th. Definitley happy to be in the top 10 points, but it's unfortunate that I had the bad things I described right before the race, so look forward to a better result at the next race.1View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

After almost a year absence from Sim-Racing it feels really good to be back, motivation is on top and im really looking forward to the rest of this season!

The race weekend worked out pretty good, im abit disappointed with the race, but overall im quite pleased.
In qualifying i didnt manage to reach my personal best, but a P8 was a good starting position.

The race itself was quite intresting, I really enjoyed all the battles and the no re-fueling rule gave it a extra boost.
For Melbourne i hope to improve abit overall and reach the Top5.
The biggest area i need to improve is my skill to adapt my driving for the tyres and fuel ballast during the race!6View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2010-03-21Australia Melbourne, Australia 2011 Rickard HellstenWC2010P13P13Comment: Screwed up Q very bad, 24.0 wasnt what i had hoped for.

Started P13, decided to try to be aggressive at the start and gain a few positions, wish succeeded and P9 after lap1 was a pretty good start.
Sadly someone went for my rear wing in T3 on lap 1, and a got some rear wing damage that made my car understeer alot on corner entry.

Due to that i decided to go for a 2 stopper.
On lap 18 i had massive understeer and started locking up my front wheels, so new tyres was the only option.
It started out pretty good, was running P5 in the 2nd stint on lap 34 when my screen freeze for about 10 sec.
When i finaly started running again i was P8 behind Greco.
Once again i got massive understeer around 18-20 laps into the 2nd stint, so it was time to do my 2nd stop.

Pit on lap 39.
Came out in P10 and closed the cap to Fredrik Nilsson quite fast.
Sadly he hit the inside Anticut in the fast chikane, and i had nowere to go.
Did my best to try to avoid him, nearly missed, but we touched and my front wing was gone and i also got some suspension damage.
Pit again, 23sec to repair and i had to catch 16sec up to Saxen in 8 laps.
Closed it down to 10sec in 2 laps when i lost it in S2 and hit the wall.

Race over, had a very fun race tho, alot of good battles.
Im very happy for my team mate Blair Disley, with a hard first race at Bahrain and come back and score a podium is a fantastic result for him and the team!
Grats bud!
Looking forward to Sepang in 2 weeks!0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

Couldnt get the car to turn mid-exit corner.

Q didnt work out at all, over 0.5 behind my pb.
Race started out pretty good, with making up a couple of spots.
But a few laps into the stint i was so, so slow.
In S3 i had a hand full just to try to get to turn.
Decided to pit on lap 14, felt good first 2-3 laps.
But then i front left was overheated and it was undrivable again.

Really have no idea what to do about this, tryed all different things in the setup.
Tryed almost all my team mates setups but mine had the best front grip, and it was still undrivable!

Lets hope for something better at Shanghai.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2010-04-11China Shanghai, China 2011 Blair DisleyWC2010P16P10Comment: Happy to get a 6th place. The race, finally, gained positions on lap 1, rather than losing them. Lots of incidents which helped me position, and again at the end of the race too.

But as saw in qualifying, 0.8 or 0.7 off the top time looks quite slow. I do not believe my driving is quite as slow as that makes it out to be, I believe alot of it is down to setup which compared to Malaysia seems to have gone backwards. Will still try and find more time in the setup.1View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

Me personally struggled with same problems as in Malaysia.
Overheating front tyres after about 2-3 laps.

Q was the best i could do. We in TMo lack speed somehow, but need to figure out were and why!

Race was short tho, lost my front wing in T3 and decided to stop.

Lets hope for big improvments as we return to Europe and Barcelona!

Had a good qualifying session, got inside the top 5.

I got passed by a few drivers in the race, but towards the end I caught back up to Tali a bit. Not sure if he was cruising or not though. Obviously if you add the 4 dnf drivers into the mix I'd be further down.15View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2010-04-25Spain Catalunya, Spain 2011 Rickard HellstenWC2010P15P9Comment: Decided to race a few hours before official practice started.
Had been sick last 3 days, didnt feel good on raceday either, but when i couldnt get a hold of Petter Kassa i decided to give it a try.
With only about 150 laps practice i didnt know what to expect.

Qual was amazing. Manage to set pb, 0.4 behind pole and P15 was a fact.

Race started out pretty good, tryd to play it safe first lap.
After 3 corners i noticed i had to play abit tuff atleast as i got passed by a few guys.

After a few laps i got into the rythm, didnt really do any major error during the whole race.
Pit stops worked good, had some very fun battles out on track!

P6 with some luck due to 2 disconnects at the end of the race was way better then i hoped for.

Gratulations to my team mates, Disley for a great 3rd, and Kaasa for a strong 2nd in WS!

Race finished in 7th. I had rear end damage from turn 1 lap 1, so my race pace was slowed. I was in 6th I think after the pitstops and hit the wall, needed to pit to repair. my small hopes for points was already lost on lap 2 as I had a weird crash with Prevot on the long straight witch ended his race and made me lose my FW and some suspension damage that made the car even more difficould to drive then it already was, as I had very low wings, as I was gambling on topspeed as I was missing that in WS.

Anyway I tryed to do stable laps but with a car that wanted to go everywhere during braking and acceleration it was very difficould, but I at least finished the race.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2010-06-20Europe Valencia, Europe 2010 Blair DisleyWC2010P16P13Comment: Qualifying was a bit slower for me than expected. I was in race rythm not qual rythm, so I think that is what stopped me from doing a better qualifying time.

The race, laptimes were slower than expected. However I think that was because I had damage. After fixing the damage in the first pitstop, the car was still not good handling, perhaps some damage doesn't get fixed 100%. Had a battle with David Dominguez for the whole race in a way, and in the end he came out on top congratulations to him for it.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2010-06-20Europe Valencia, Europe 2010 Atze KerkhofWC2010P21P18Comment: My debute already in WC after my 8th place finish in World Series debute yesterday. I took the free spot on the Torrent Motorsports WC team last minute, which caused a 'too late allocation' penalty. This meant I had to start at the back of the grid.

Race itself started pretty good... A very cautious first corner and in the first lap I managed to conquer some places. I enjoyed a great battle with Denni Hirrle for a couple of laps. Unfortunately I made a beginners mistake and landed stuck on the kerb in the last corner. After that my engine stalled and my first WC race was already over.

A bit dissapointed actually, but my racepace was good! I enjoyed every single lap in this league so far and I'm very confident for the next race at the renewed Silverstone!0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2010-07-04Great Britain Silverstone, Great Britain 2011 Blair DisleyWC2010P19P14Comment: Started from pitlane, so that cost about 31seconds. Then from lap 3 to lap 17 was battling with De Witt, which put me way back to about 57seconds behind the leader. He made a mistake and I got passed.

I pitted one lap earlier than Niza, and was able to leapfrog him. Then 3 laps to go I caught Patel, coudln't get passed. End of race was 1m09 behind the leader, so only lost 12seconds over 35 laps, including the battle with Patel.

Happy to be closer on pace compared to recent races.0View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

The race I was caught in the usual field spread, but I also had alot of engine left at the end, didn't have enough fuel on board, so maybe I could have had an overall quicker race, as I did have to conserve during the middle part for quite a few laps.4View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2010-07-18Germany Hockenheim, Germany 2010 Atze KerkhofWC2010P22P10Comment: Race was absolutely better than yesterday. Some small setup changes and driving style adjustments got me 0.5 sec every lap in race. I'm happy I finished the race, because i squeezed everything out of the car this race. Couldn't go faster with this setup.

Starting from the back of the grid, my race started easy, looking out how my pace was compared to the pack. Had some good fights and pushed as hard as I could to keep up with Hirrle. Last stint i had to save my engine and couldn't defend my position with Prevot, so I didn't fight him and decided to finish the race. 1View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

I didn't take part in the qualy session as it was a late decision, so I started in the last stop of the grid. In the first stint I managed to overtake de Wit, Bekker and Saxen. In the second stint I was less than 2s from Mikkonen. After 2nd pitstop I was behind David, just keeping our positions, but it seems he was on a 3 stopper and he stopped. Unfortunately Mikkonen was far from me in that moment of the race, so I was just saving tires and engine, I had more fuel usage than expected and I finished without fuel, but it was enough to finish 7th, my best result in WC.6View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

Lost some positions on the first lap. Later in the race, I came out of the pits and was fighting with Rasmus Tali and Ronny Hahnel. After some racing I was ahead but made a mistake and that was the end of my fight for 7th place, or 6th at the end for Hahnel.

Without that mistake that cost 6seconds, I don't know if I could have definitley held my position, but it would have been nice to see what happened.

However that said, without that mistake, I would only have been about 21seconds behind Huis, which I suppose is slow, but not anywhere as slow as some other races I've done this season so I'm happy with that and happy to be in the points.4View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result

2010-10-17Brazil Interlagos, Brazil 2011 Blair DisleyWC2010P9P7Comment: Qualified in P9, 0.4 behind Marques's pole lap. P9 was because alot of drivers weren't allowed to take part.

I made a bad start and was basically last after lap 2 or 3 except for the pitlane starters. I went with a different 2 stop strategy, which did help as when others battled I could gain time, and also have fresh tyres at the end, which helped me to close and get passed Patel and Saxen for 8th position.6View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
2010-10-31United Arab Emirates Yas Marina, UAE 2011 Blair DisleyWC2010P14P9Comment: Was off pace quite a bit here. Tried the 2 stop to see if I could be quicker that way, but just wasn't quick enough to make it work. Perhaps 1 stop would have been better, but even so, not sure if I would have been able to make a big improvement on my finishing position.2View Official Result Download PDF File of Official Result
